The world hunger problem comes from a mismanagement of resources driven by the illogical demand for animal products

We currently grow enough food to feed 10 billion people
'illogical demand'
People have eaten animals for a long time and it has proven to be a valuable source of nutrition. I suspect a big change in diet while adversely affect the human body.
They wouldn’t really want it if they were educated
Hmm, to me it is very much about the texture and taste.

Animal products should not be considered nutritious. You can find all nutrients in plants and lower your risk of contracting many diseases. The effects of a plant based diet are very beneficial
Show me one plant that has all the nutritional value of a steak.
Seaweed is good
I never said plants are not nutritious...just that they are not as nutritious as a steak or at least not as completely nutritious.
I also would be interested in information on the vegetarian population having a longer expected lifespan.
You’re not going to just eat one thing. If you only ate meat you will develop deficiencies and that is probably true of any single plant also. Just because meat contains nutrients does not make it healthy. Eating meat comes with a lot of health risks
I agree 💯 but I don't think it's as cut and dry as meat bad. It's a balance thing.
Vegans live longer on average and the longest living populations were vegan or mostly plant based. Google it
Now that's an argument that makes sense. It's not as simple as meat bad...after all we have evolved into to use meat protein efficiently. However living longer is a great point.
it basically comes down to calories and if I have the choice of calories from meat or from plants I will choose plants every time. If I want a specific nutrient then I’ll eat a fruit or vegetable with that nutrient. There is always a better option
I think the studies are limited. Humans have evolved to absorb meat nutrition effectively. Sure plants might be slightly healthier but I don't think it is gonna make me live forever or that eating meat or plants makes anything better than anyone else.
Not forever but ya probably longer and healthier. I definitely do think that choosing to eat plants is beneficial to our environment also
Good arguments for this lifestyle. I suspect that brain development and nutrition needs to be studied more. I have heard that humans moved from the stoneage due to less time when hunting compared to foraging. This was due to easier to process nutrition.
I don’t think so. There is evidence that shows plants played a greater role. Perhaps more obviously is because our bodies preferred source of energy is from carbohydrates which meat lacks
Here is a government study on this: https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5417583/
This article is rather in depth but to paraphrase the historical impacts. Vegetarians have higher birthrates but more stunted brain and height. Meat eaters have less babies but historically longer life with more disease but also more brain function.
