William Miller, (born Feb. 15, 1782, Pittsfield, Mass., U.S.died Dec. 20, 1849, Low Hampton, N.Y.), American religious enthusiast, leader of a movement called Millerism that sought to revive belief that the bodily arrival (“advent”) of Christ was imminent.

Miller and others convinced as many as one million Americans that Christ would be resurrected between the spring of 1843 and the spring of 1844. Millerites were members of a religious sect who in 19th century America believed the world was about to end.

About 1831 he began to preach the idea that the world would end with the return of Christ close to the year 1843. Over the next decade, he developed into a forceful public speaker, and his preaching became extraordinarily popular.

As October 23, 1844 approached, some Millerites went so far as to sell their earthly possessions in preparation for the second coming of Christ.

One Millerite, Hiram Edson, wrote, “Our fondest hopes and expectations were blasted, and such a spirit of weeping came over us as I never experienced before… We wept, and wept, till the day dawn.”

After the Great Disappointment, we have very poignant accounts of believers who describe the dismay, the weeping, literally the disappointment they felt. They had anticipated that they were going to be carried into heaven. It didn't happen.

You are missing the point of this thread completely....On a side note, do you not find it weird that not even the son knows? But at the same time the son and the father are one? What do you find glorious about the death of 7 billion people?
