For scaleabilty and security you need to be able to distribute and decentralize asics hashing. Double hashing enables this since it can be split into two different functions in same system.
In terms of decentralization, by distributing this 2 functions between different entities, you and me, one can cancel the other, if such is needed. I think it can work like this, it’d be helpful to shed more light on the matter @1649 :)
