Well the world icon doesn't show up when you first make a post (like a title one at the top of the page) https://share.getcloudapp.com/12urele2
Also, on a post all the buttons are not stateful except for the world icon. The world icon operates like a drop down but it doesn't look like one. Also you have to hover for kind of a long time before it shows you want the world icon means.https://share.getcloudapp.com/xQuAKog0
Maybe this would introduce localization problems but I would find a small bit of text like, "this post is public" or "this is only visible to those with a link" etc... to be helpful.
Also I guess it's unclear to me if the comments that are attached to it are also public/private? When you branch off of it, it becomes even less clear.

ah... ok, so every quest, no matter where you make it always starts out as a semi-private, url-share mode, that's the link icon below the title

it has no bearing on the stream you are in, which are the circles in the nav bar

also, the filter and sort button do have state, unless im misunderstanding what you mean
