yea, you can post threads in the Home stream, which are private and you can mention any user to invite them to that thread

you can navigate to the home stream by pressing Home icon in the bottom navbar, and then press the new thread button. Or press the new thread button first, and then select Home from the dropdown on the top left of the thread container
