If you want to make the world a better place, think about how to make Bitcoin more valuable. Then think about how to earn more Bitcoins doing it!

I think this is wrong. You don’t have to make bitcoin more valuable, you have to create wealth for yourself. Using bitcoin makes it easier to do that and when you succeed, it makes bitcoin more value. The focus needs to be on you, not bitcoin.
If you have bitcoins first, then making Bitcoin more valuable creates wealth for yourself.
That’s why I don’t agree with your approach, you’re first making people bagholders which incentivizes them to create more bagholders instead of creating a business that produces wealth by being valuable to others.
The value of money is future production. Making Bitcoin more valuable means increasing future production. You are not a bag holder if you have a form of money that has future production.
With all due respect, I don’t think you understand the kind of ‘money’ bitcoin is. It’s a unit of account that could be used to measure wealth or purchasing power but it is not money itself.
Earning and spending in real time, not buying and holding.
Why do you think that Bitcoin is not money?
Money is for earning, spending, and saving. Savings are very important. How much you want in savings is a very big decision. I think that most of the value that can be realized in Bitcoin right now is in savings.
Right, that’s what money is. Bitcoin isn’t money.
Why not?
Because bitcoin is an electronic cash system with a native unit of account.
It can be used as money but it’s not money.
None of that is a reason that it's not money.
If bitcoin is the best tool, than @24 is right and @1350 is wrong. If not, Ari might be in advantage. If @24 is right than Ari is some steps behind.
Ari is naive though to think that creating wealth for oneself necessarily makes the world a better place.
creating wealth for yourself by using bitcoin because it’s the best tool to do so always makes the world a better place if you succeed
i don’t see how it wouldn’t in any circumstance
we’ll have to argue one day in real life, twetches and text in general isn’t suited for this discussion
The wealth is not necessarily what makes the world better in that hypothesis, look at silk road, they got wealthy.
What makes the world a better place? And why bitcoin is a good tool? Those are the points.
The wealth itself doesn’t, the value created for others to make the one producing wealthy, does.
Even Silk Road did. A lot of criminals behind bars thanks to them using bitcoin and more yet to go.
Bitcoin is a great tool because it enables fair exchange.
This is mostly bitcoin's merit, its honest model, so @24 is right, it is a clever move to store coins and/or build on bitcoin if you believe future productivity will grow over time.
It also makes the case for just being lazy and buying some coins.
No, it might make sense to get some and keep them just in case the casino’s keep going. That’s a gamble, not investing, not saving, not anything of value to the economy.
Even if you and I do nothing the economy might prosper, and people who do nothing have benefited from smart capital allocation (they did this at least).
You should consider that the asset might be more successful than what you are building =] You may fail.
‘People who do nothing have benefited’
Socialist.
Investing in Bitcoin, by owning bitcoin, isn’t ‘doing nothing’. It reduces supply, which contributes to raising the price. Price raising generally garners more interest. More interest often garners more investment, use, and building. All great things.
I agree, it has an effect, but if nobody builds utility to the project it just dies. If people build there is a chance demand will increase. So if you just hold you are counting on others to build utility. And if you build you may lift non-builders as well
Right, but not everyone has the time, interest, or skill set required to build on BSV. I'm a Realtor working a lot of hours to help people buy and sell homes. That's my job in society right now, and it has value. The builders need to keep building....
...and we need to attract more builders. One way to attract more builders is to raise the price, which raises attention. I'm doing my part by removing some of the BSV supply, which in turn helps value increase. I also USE bsv, which helps the ecosystem
I am not defending this, it is just a fact and it has nothing to do with ideology. You benefit now of the work of millions of people, including our ancestors - you could not build the society you live in alone, that is nonsense.
I agree, you are a participant and your investment has an impact.
You don't believe price gravitates towards value?
Great, thanks! I'm sure @1350 agrees as well. 😄
Knowing the future is valuable to the economy. Bitcoin is a future prediction contest.
