in the same vein, and might be a little harder to implement... but my character should not be centered in the screen, he should be a little back and as i turn around it should adjust so the direction i am facing in has more real estate to "see in front of me"

this might be hard to get right so i dunno if its possible
Do you mean have the direction of the player provide a greater range of vision? I might be able to make that happen. I’ll need to tinker with that.
