I've set a Boost difficulty of 100,000 to baemail me cosmosstag@moneybutton.com.

As an inbox owner I wonder, what is the advantage of seeing a costly signal that paid miners instead of myself being paid by a regular baemail? Aren't miners taking my lunch?

Twetch ·

If you received money for sending you a message, how do I know you didn't just take the money and not read the message? With Boost, you know it's likely that your messages will be read.

The sender runs this risk in both scenarios, but I am more inclined to read the messages that pay me instead of someone else. If it was bullshit at least I was compensated for waisting my time.

Twetch ·

It’s your choice, for this reason. If you want a good signal Boost will seethe you better - but ultimately it is up to you to choose your inbox economics. If you prefer to be paid, set your Boost threshold higher than your Pay threshold.

With Boost it's your incentive to set the difficulty to exactly the level which limits information to an amount that you actually want to read. If you get paid to receive the message nobody really knows if you would really read it, despite what you say.

Twetch ·

I think it's fine to demand money to receive a message but there should be a legally binding contract obliging you to read the message.

Twetch ·

Please write a script whereby the sender funds an output which can only be redeemed by decrypting the Baemail. A send and a release funds to self?

Twetch ·

Maybe you could use Legally Chained for that. @1350

Twetch ·

I was going to figure this out myself, or ask Stas.

Twetch ·

I see your point, but I think that setting a minimum price for the messages to appear in my inbox would be more interesting.
Boost doesn't guarantee to the sender that I will read a message, so I see no difference. The miner already got the money anyway.

Twetch ·

It doesn't guarantee. It's just something that you can expect. When you accept money, there's a reason to receive the message other than because you want to read it.

Twetch ·

What kind of customer would be your main target for this? Companies trying to reach people to which they are not familiar?
I think boost is a great idea but the more obvious use cases for me are not email inboxes. Public sources of info is a strong one IMO

Twetch ·

Thanks! Boost is good for eliminating any information that wastes time. It can be a spam filter or a content ranker. Twetch is going to use it as a content ranker!

Nice, congrats man, great idea, I wish you and your partners great success.
