how to use the treechat clipper to share links (or anything really) into treechat

for background: treechat has a cool but little known feature called clipping that makes it really convenient to save links from any app into treechat threads from mobile or from your browser via a chrome extension

i mostly use it to organize and keep up with news and links, and clip things into my private streams, but it’s also really handy for sharing links to the public stream.

you'll need the mobile app to use it, click into the thread (👉) for info on how to install the mobile app if you don't have it yet

alternatively you can also use it on desktop through the chrome extension, details on that in the subthread here 👉

the flow works like this: find the share button (some apps call it “share in other app”) in your browser or whatever app you’re using, press it, and then scroll over to treechat. after tapping it you’ll end up in treechat with this ui showing:

clicking New will let you pick a stream to create a new thread in. clicking Prev will let you clip it to a new message in an existing theme (this one’s handy when you’re saving a bunch of related links in one go). anything you type in the little box above will end up in the treechat message that it creates.

and if you click the little clock/history (🕒) button in the lower right you can quickly clip to any of the places you’ve clipped to previously

you can also use it to clip stuff to the public stream directly if you want to share things publicly so people can lock (and soon upvalue) on your links
