UNPOPULAR TAKE: All social media interaction metrics (number of likes, branches, etc) are valuable data that should be private in a bitcoin economy.
Content providers won’t want consumers estimating their earnings on content. Income is personal info.

Imagine a future solid content provider and you can see they have 25k shares/likes, so now we can all estimate what everyone is earning. That’s unnerving.
What is unnerving about that? No privacy with regard to what the content provider is earning?
There is a balance to find between privacy for users and their reputation which is built from historical use that others can see. It’s also important you can prove Twetch is not lying about numbers.
So you want to be the one deciding how much privacy your users are allowed to have because you think you can’t prove numbers without mandatory transparency?
Not at all, you decide to use Twetch knowing your actions are settled publicly on chain. Users decide how much privacy they want by telling us and by either using Twetch or not. I am listening to your concerns
I use twetch because I want my thoughts stored forever but this service is still pretty shitty.
I want to be able to revoke or limit access to my legally owned content and preferences. Instagram takes privacy more seriously than Twetch, it’s ridiculous.
had we implemented all these privacy features from the start, Twetch wouldn’t exist. We will continue to ship early and often til the product gets to where it needs to be. I will say, there are privacy features in the works right now
I’m glad the service is not too shitty to prevent you from using it :)
It’s not too shitty to prevent me from using it altogether but it is preventing me to air thoughts more private.
You do know this is beta?
Yes, that’s why I’m giving user feedback.
@1350 delivers critiques ever so diplomatically. 😉
We aren’t here to use Twetch to store our thoughts forever on chain, that’s a valuable byproduct of what’s really important: creating a dynamic environment for spreading honest, valuable information.
I wonder if all this working to solve privacy issues is the wrong way of looking at it. We‘re here to build a customized experience. Say, I create groups to branch to for different interests I have. These are different ‘personas’ attached to my identity.
Anyone ever inhibited to share interests because it’s probably not something everyone who follows you would want to see? Maybe you’re closer to some followers IRL & want to branch to them personal stuff? How does everyone get exactly what they want here?
