I understand. I'm proficient with ProTools as well as the Adobe suites & others, even old enough that I have literally cut tape for reel-to-reel recordings. I got to do that stuff in terms of production as well as getting mentored by a very high-quality equipment technician. I cut my teeth doing all kinds of live sound and recording. I am well-versed in music production & understand where you're coming from.
The dynamics wars are still quite active.
For an excellent example of what quality production sounds like dig up old Zappa albums and compare that production quality to anything in the past 30 years, hell, make it 50. The struggle for losslessness is real
