There are two approaches to fighting evil:

One is fighting evil inside ourselves, which is extremely difficult, and the other is fighting evil in others, which is extremely convenient.

The latter is a function of the ego (inner devil). It wants to control others by force while simultaneously self-identifying as a savior.

Jihad ("holy war") is a good way to see the difference. A war can only be "holy" if it is waged inside of ourselves. A Jihad that fights others is as unholy and corrupt as it gets.
