I get that & we must undermine them any way we can…I don’t use it for podcasts for that reason. Unfortunately the music industry is entrenched…unsure how to replace Spotify as musicians are duped by IP laws & think they can’t profit w/out State protection.
Yeah, the regulatory burden for DMCA is almost insurmountable for a startup.
It's sad to see the early self-publishing platforms like BandCamp get outpaced by the subscription behemoths. Maybe small musicians will reconsider as live show revenue dries up.
The last band I was in self-published on Bandcamp, gave away our music, & marked it with the loosest CC standard possible on the site: https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/3.0/
