Treechat needs to be free from locking mechanism. Instead, it needs to implement micropayments for posting, for upvoting, for downvoting, and it has to show the total count of votes (up, down AND absolute up+down) per post which represents the total energy invested in the post, which in turn needs to get dynamically updated with the total count of the comments to the post and its respective voting (up, down, AND absolute up+down). That would constitute a better true and fair signaling mechanism.

as far as paying to post, i dont believe this is the right strategy when we're trying to reduce friction as much as possible to acquire users and motivate them to share their knowledge here
upvotes implemented as locks have a cost in that there is an opportunity cost to locking, but we are exploring other signaling mechanisms like tipping on messages (although this can be abused via a sybil attack so you have to be clever about how to do it, a problem locks don't suffer from)
