In simple terms, Ordinals let you attach data (like images, text, or NFTs) directly to individual satoshis (the smallest unit of Bitcoin). Once that data is inscribed, it lives on-chain permanently -no external servers.
Think of it like engraving art or information onto a single Bitcoin “coin.” That engraved satoshi can then be sent, traded, or collected.
