I took this photo of a dragonfly years ago and it still takes my breath away every time I look at it.
Dragonflies have always felt special to me. They spend most of their lives underwater as nymphs, sometimes for years, before they finally emerge, spread those incredible wings, and only get a few short months to fly. That alone says so much.
To me (and in so many cultures), the dragonfly stands for:
• Transformation and new beginnings
• Adaptability and going with the flow
• Joy and lightness of being
• Living fully in the moment
• Clarity — seeing through the illusions we carry
In Japan they’re a symbol of courage and victory. In Chinese culture they represent prosperity and good luck. Many Native American traditions connect them to purity, healing, protection, and change.
Whenever I see one, it feels like a quiet reminder: change is happening, or it’s time to embrace it. Don’t wait. Spread your wings while you can.
Have you ever had a dragonfly moment that stuck with you?
