Today I did something I don’t usually do…

I said fuck it and slowed down.

My fearful mind was yelling:

“You should be working.”

“You need to make something happen.”

“Nothing ever works out for me.”

I suddenly realised I was listening to Fear FM.

The self sabotaging radio channel we all have playing in our minds.

Aware of how silly and absurd these thoughts were, I chose not to take them seriously and put them in the mental filing cabinet called “Limitations.”

These are the types of things which hold us back from living a life of freedom.

A life aligned with who we are, and what we actually want.

Instead, I confidently told myself “it will all be fine”..

Grabbed my coat.

Put on my trainers.

And went for a walk.

On my way, I practiced being more present.

Every time these negative thinking patterns would come up, I’d become aware of them, label them “Fear FM”, then focus on the present again and carry on my merry way.

I found a nice sunny spot next to the water, sat down on the vibrant grass and let the warm sun fall on my skin as I closed my eyes and tossed all my worries into the mental trash can.

It’s moments like this that remind me how my life was mostly habits.

The thoughts, beliefs and mental chatter had been the same cobweb covered records on repeat for years.

And it’s my responsibility to change them.

So here’s to a fresh start, creating a life I actually want, focused on freedom and enjoyment, instead of limitation and fear.
