Thread on a search tool idea that would make governments compete for citizens, improve mobility, allow better lifestyle design, and enhance personal freedom.
Also might be profitable...

Home search site with waaaay more search criteria.
But don't re-invent the wheel. Pull Zillow data, or make a plugin to layer on top of Zillow....
Apply filters to search for things like Taxes, gun laws, homeschool laws, dominant religion, drug laws, proximity to city of n population, proximity to organic farm, art gallery, well water, whatever important to you.
And global search.
Current tools...
ALL force you to first pick geo then apply filters like bed, bath, sq ft, price...
But I don't care about state/country at all. I care about a handful of things, few of which are bed/bath related, most of which are economic/political/cultural environment
I'd much rather know, for example, where in world I could get house on water in place that has no income tax, or no lockdown, or good (little to no) homeschool regs within 1 hr drive of metro of 500k people where 30%+ of pop that speaks Engilsh.
When work and education are more and more remote, peeps like me don't first picks a city, then school district, then neighborhood, then beds/baths/price.
They have a price range and a set of quality of life indicators, and want to shop the world!
I bet an MVP could pull Zillow data and layer on something simple like economic freedom of the world index, or database from some single issue org like a drug legalization or homeschool legal degfense org.
Could pull more data from more sources over time.
Heck, I'd pay a few bucks per search criteria (with a single swipe!) if the data was pretty good.
Could even pull in people you follow on social who live nearby, etc. etc.
Bit info prob in geographical arbitrage market!
Solve it and win!
Then if your fav resuts were in other country, could link to firms like escapeartist.com who help you get citizenship, etc. etc. the way zillow connects to realtors and mortgage brokers
white man privilege
PS - is there an easy way to "unroll" this thread or export or copy/paste it for posting elsewhere?
Wherever you started, it is amazing to move closer to greater ability to choose more elements of life.
But not sure what that has to do with being white.
I am sure that assuming privilege on the part of others does not add to your personal power.
you wrote "peeps like me" - and that is just how it is. not everyone gets to pick places of residence on the basis of who satisfies more of their lifestyle criteria. i am sure that assuming you are always correct does not add to your personal power.
I only meant by peeps like me people who are looking to enhance choice in their life and working towards ability to choose a place to live based not on a physical office building or schools. I know many, of many races. And it took all of us time!
