Thought: if you have values that differ from others, is inequality inevitable in all societies?

If any attribute varies even slightly, inequality is inevitable.

Inequality is inevitable period.

We can be treated equally without being equal.

🤔

@Brendan no you can't

Twetch ·

Why not?

Twetch ·

You can try, but someone who doesn't will outcompete you. Plus I like treating my family better than strangers. The only equality here isn't treating strangers like family, it'd be treating family like strangers, no thank you.

Actually I think that treating people equally is the best way to compete. By judging everyone on their merits rather than who they are or where they come from gives you the best advantage. Putting family ahead of others is fine but it will weaken your edge

I agree Brendan, but in practice this is not easy. At the end of the day you're a person too with your own preferences. You will get along better with some than with others. But it's a noble goal to strive for.
