The herd is our default setting.
It is in all of us to the degree that we allow it.

To overcome the herd in ourselves a process of individuation has to be initiated.

This process involves facing ourselves, facing fears and evaluating our irrationality.

To clarify:

I don't use the term herd as an insult.
There is nothing wrong with being a happy member of a herd and loving the shephard.
