So cool! What does the curriculum look like?
I'm a decent Pythonista and have always wanted to run a class for the youngsters in town.
very simple. first day is just getting used to saving txt files and next few days are shell tutorial. then a week of printing/ math, basic loops. will end with em having a mad libs program
i will give you feedback based on how the kids and teacher receive it :)
I tried to learn to program between 13-15 and had poor teachers who blazed through curriculum and used low-level languages. I convinced myself I didn't have the mind for it.
Would hate to impart the same sense of failure to anyone else.

I'm in the process of developing a curriculum aimed at 12-17 year olds that moves from beginner to making a simple Flask app + API to build a PokeDex but I worry it might be moving too fast for first-timers.
the biggest challenge is the 'no child left behind' mantra... its real easy to find the few interested kids and get em rolling.... but keeping the uninterested kids engaged is a chore.
100%. Maybe a two-track program is most pragmatic?
I'd be less concerned about every kid reaching the "finish line," moreso that everyone learns something regardless of how far they get.

unfortunately this is at a public school so i dont have much choice except to provide the teacher w the resources for the kids who want to learn more

i think the pokedex is an excellent idea.... for sure would keep the kids interested
i think so. Have a base course designed around getting the kids to think more than anything, the kids who get excited can do an extra curriculum thing
at least for a public school tech ed class
you can easily implement a rasberry pi and make some cool shit that kids would love..... like a blastoff counter for a model rocket or a camera tracking airsoft gun lol
