This would be really cool 🙂. One of my favorite parts of Obsidain is owning my own data. I kind of stopped using Knov because I realized that I wanted a more long term solution to my data management.

makes sense just fyi there are both individual and global exports available

export demo !screen

Hm... export is helpful, although doesn't feel like it's the same as, "owning" my data. With Obsidian the data is constantly on my hard drive, with Knov, it's constantly on the cloud unless I remember to export it. Also it's in a format that's pretty specific to it (understandable). Admittedly Obsidian's Markdown format has started to diverge from normal Markdown a decent amount.

All this said, I don't think Knov is bad in the way it does things. I see it as more of social place. It's not a desktop app so saving things to the filesystem doesn't really make sense.

metamitya ·

yea, for sure, Knov needs to be in the cloud because the point is to be able to search others' notes as well as your own (still developing this capability, but you can search the All or Public streams to do this now)

there is a middle ground though that I am seriously looking at which would be to use something like gun db which is a peer to peer encrypted database, but it's a little early for that right now, although that's where we're going

cc @hungrybreadelevatorjust cuz we've been discussing some of the same ideas

Interesting 🤔 . I like where you're going with it 🙂

@metamitya does it mean it would mirror Knovigator messages in Dropbox as files/documents?
