Each Sycamore tree produces these round seed balls each year.

They dry out in the fall. Hundreds or maybe even thousands of the fluff seeds come off the center core.
Leaving a small patch off seeds. I believe they need a cold spell or even a freeze over the winter.
In the spring I gather up the fluff, spread apart , sprinkle some dirt and keep moist. Soon there are little two leaf sprouts like on the left side and next four leaves and the third and fourth leaf are pointed like a Sycamore leaf and I have a nice baby tree. I’ll move theses to their own small container in a couple weeks. And the next spring I’ll put them in the ground along my fence line. I prefer a north south fence line because I get morning shade and afternoon shade.
This one is my very first one the I planted all by myself, it’s about nine years old.
His brother here is about 10 years old but I made someone else dig the hole to put him in the ground. They ar right next to each other.

I was not sure if I had seen the tree before. A search reveals that the name Sycamore name covers multiple species.
Would you call this one a "Platanus"? What will you use the tree for except from environment shaping, soil stabilizing?
Is it used in a medicinal way?

I’m growing shade!! I put then along my driveway and along fence lines and over watering troughs. I live in Texas. We need lots of shade!
Yes it’s calledPlatanus occidentalis (American sycamore, also known as American planetree, buttonwood, or buttonball tree).
This row goes across a with acre pasture. I had to fence in the trees or the cows would have eaten them all down. I have tried to grow pecan trees but they don’t like the sun as much as these do. I have recorded as much as five feet of growth in one year. They really are amazing. Our pastures are irrigated so I can keep the grass growing, and the trees and the cows!! That’s a sprinkler there in the background.
