I suspect the IFP proposal is a self-sabotaging ploy. Amaury and others succeeded in splitting the big block camp but now their quandary is having to actually compete and build BCH. They'd much rather refocus on derailing CSW. 1/

If the IFP succeeds the trolls will have resources to buy themselves some time. If IFP fails then the trolls will have cover to walk away from the cat-herding hell that is development on a lawless chain. 2/
The problem with hijacking a ticker from Satoshi is that you then have to maintain and compete. This is a huge timesink that takes away from their crypto-insurgency. They know it's a waste of time to find a way to make Avalanche work. 3/
