Depends what is considered freer.
I've learned over my years that freer isn't necessary to allow everything be done upon yourself by free choice.
Wisdom is needed. More informed individuals and you can't make that happen anymore without onchained data.

It's very simple, when blockchain was created it is impossible that we continue our journey as a human specie with the Internet as it is today (data not protected in both privacy & immutability) through the most efficient way possible; economics at scale.
