It is striking how accurately Genesis describes the urge of the ego (body/mind) to be a god.
Today people openly claim to be gods, which is hilarious.
And it makes sense. Once you abandon the soul and have nothing to evaluate the narratives of the mind, they become full ego inflation narratives: "you are a God and can do whatever you want."
