The systems have to be taken down and replaced. Imagine no big government on this planet, the health care that heals, the education that teaches... People tend to think change doesn't happen overnight. It does. Old forests have fire. All those marble statues under the sea. Foundations are being used right now as a way forward.

imo the only way it will work is through competition... making the old system collapse completely will lead to the return of an authoritarian system, any system, that will provide security. what's required is the opening up of everything to private competition and let government compete non-coercively... where it wins it will stay, where it loses it will disappear

Yes, competition, also a wider focus on co operation. A focus on local. As above So below. It starts with the self. After that everything else follows.

convo here reminds me of something @metamitya and I were discussing yesterday. I mentioned Jon Rappoport as a great thinker on decentralization. He's always very artsy in how he presents things but I loved what this article made me think about .. In short, freedom is messy.

I love that line from the Leonard Cohen song The Future: "Things are gonna slide, slide in all directions" it's already happening, countered by an increasingly desperate and totalitarian force that is trying to keep it all together. The positive aspect of things sliding in all directions is indeed decentralization. Giving up on the imperial idea that even enemies need to be forced into one system.

Ironically, decentralization means true diversity, while the state turns everything into gray slime.

Free-association beats forced-inclusion all day.

I've been living in a centralized communist country all my life. Tell you so f... fed up of all of that. I'm now anti-system and in favor of total decentralization.
