if you sort content by what's most liked/tipped the signal is almost entirely from people who like/tip easily, & it's almost all them just being friendly & generous to the people they like, so it's just a flow of likes/tips to the most popular people just for existing & all sorts of content that's mediocre to awful gets a zillion likes/tips just b/c people are hanging out & not in a critical mood

I see it as the ProofOfStake vs ProofOfWork mentalities at play.
How to make PoW cool?
and I think with Musks' $8(US) verification system it's simply going to amplify the arse-lickedness nature of twitter.
idk if it's practical advice for knov, but the way i'd think of shaping things is, charge for everything something in the neighborhood of what it actually costs, then let people share those resources, like rather than trying to provide a bunch of "free" everything & then figuring out how to charge for it actually at some point where you can tap it, what i'd think of doing is charge for everything all along but actually as little as it costs, even for a new account i'd charge the cost of making a new account even if that's just $0.0001 or w/e,,, that way instead of being "free" but i have to figure out how to clamp it down if someone abuses it, if someone's making a billion accounts i can just be like, ok well good thing they paid me enough to cover the expense, wonder why they want a billion accounts
