My son has been doing some work experience with me this week, under some duress I might add, and he likes scary stories, especially H P Lovecraft, so we made a ‘horror’ short with AI.

this is amazing

I don’t know about amazing, but it is amazing what you can do with a few hundred dollars a month worth of AI tools, lol. We made an Etymology (word meaning) quiz today testing people’s knowledge of the meanings of Old English words. We published it as an artefact, but sadly, it won’t let me copy in the full list of 700 words (token limit) I think, so the quiz repeats. But it is kind of amazing even so. (My son is very anti AI and I’m not so secretly trying to convert him. It’s like I gave birth to a Luddite!) He wrote a Beatles style song on Suno last night too and enjoyed it. Slowly, but surely… 😂 https://claude.site/artifacts/a7b02348-c817-4ae2-b207-934b566b7a96

ive been enjoying making marketing videos for treechat with ai... im amazed at the creative power we wield

Agreed. It’s nuts honestly. That’s what I’m trying to get my son to realise, that these tools facilitate and enhance creativity because I’m doing/making things I wouldn’t have even attempted before, and it’s also super enjoyable. It simply means people can do grander, more sophisticated, more imaginative work, and to a higher standard. What’s not to love about that? People will still seek out the ‘real thing’ as well, in the form of hand-painted canvases and music performed live, etc. No amount of AI will replace the experience of listening to a live orchestra, for instance. And no amount of prints ever devalued an original painting.

right exactly... i have this argument all the time. i always ask: did digital photography kill photography?

the super power is becoming good taste, because the barrier to entry for creating something is dropping precipitously

Yes, I agree, curating is a huge part of it, Curating over and over until the project is finished, like being an art director. Still a very worthy function. After all, wasn’t Steve Jobs on of the greatest taste-maker/art director/curators of all time. And his stuff still sells pretty well I hear 😉.

how did you keep a consistent character?
