Yeah... the phone thing will be tricky I think. Goog + Apple have a lot of power here. I'm not sure of viable alternatives currently. I'm sure there's some de-googled android phone out there that's decent.

Dave, have you verified your site with Brave yet? I want to, but am having trouble with it. Not sure where to place the trusted file. It says look for '.well-known'? Not sure what that is. Should I go with the DNS route? Does the DNS get pasted somewhere?

It may or may not exist by default. If you're using a CMS, they should have a way of dropping static files into your site. In this case, you'd want to to be reachable from mysite.com/.well-known/thefiletheygaveyou.jsonorwhatever.
