SNAP: Rough times!
Rough day for SNAP as online advertising sucks for everyone not named TikTok, but who does it suck for worse? SNAP has been outperforming Facedbook/Zberg for the last several quarters, and this one should prove no different. But since the Cambridge Analytica scandal started having an effect on Facebook in 2018, it's been pretty bad for Zberg (check out the chart of performance— pic ⬇️— since Facedbunk was outed by a whistleblower at C.A.)
Anyway, at least the ride was much better for SNAP since then, and rather pedestrian for FB/META despite a huge COVID shut-in benefit. Round-trip, Zberg has profitted NOT AT ALL from COVID, which is embarrassing.
SNAP is still growing right thru the Apple change to advertisers, and Daily Avg Users climbed a remarkable 19% which is a great sign.
One thing to remember, SNAP is still the best messaging app, with Augmented Reality (AU) platform tops in the world. People continue to use it for private communications of the highest quality, as well as picture and video saving, and ephemeral use. In their SPARE time they offer the same product a TikTok, and have grown that business hugely since launch not long ago. So will people stick with their comms provider, and then make the TikTok functionality an extra? Or will TikTok somehow add daily comms to their platform? Because otherwise, Snap competes with TikTok, but TT doesn't compete with Snap, and that's great for SNAP investors.
Remain long-term bullish on SNAP, as their map product is revolutionary and growing, and their AR remains tops with strong Lens Studio developer army. Not seeing anyone or anything taking that from them, and TT simply doesn't compete directly anymore than Facebook once competed with Youtube back in the late oughts.
Meanwhile, SNAP can get bigger and bigger as it penetrates more of the world, and moves laterally into things like Snap Maps, public videos (Spotlight, like TikTok but right next to your comms!), and private videos (Stories, which Snap invented and Zberg stole).
Long live SNAP. Target: > $100 this next round, and targetting 2025 if the world doesn't collapse on itself in general (Summer 1914 doesn't happen, which it might).
