used to be a magician & mentalist a long time ago, so have thought about that quite a lot.

There is a difference between claiming you have magic power & not explicitly saying what you are doing is fake. I agre the first is unethical, but the second one is not, it is just letting spectator appreciate art & suspension of disbelief.

mostly agree but where do we draw the line. Actors do not start a play telling "oh just know when the princess starts flying it is going to be fake, alright we can start". Deception is the source of all arts & sometime deception can also help us see truth.

I used to do stand-up (sit-down really) comedy mentalism, it was obvious that they were tricks but they still astound... all done with a smile.
