I'm not surprised at all. Population control mechanisms are not a bad idea probably, but native europeans already have a very low birthrate, so there's no need to kill us.
IMO it's most likely that the spread of the virus was more or less an accident. The wuhan bioweapon laboratory probably sold their test animals to some meat market, out of sheer incompetence/irresponsibility. Wouldn't be surprised if that's the case.
