This seems very next level, from Jake Jones. I’ve never used an MCP but from what I’m understanding you can give any general-purpose model a domain-specific “copilot mode”. I tried to find some articles on it, but there isn’t much written yet. It’s so new.

Here is a definition:

”Model Context Protocol (MCP) is a way to give large language models better information during a coding session. Instead of just pasting code or prompts into the chat, MCP gives the model a structured view of your files, tools, and workflows. This helps the model act like a smart assistant for your specific project — without retraining it.

It’s like a plugin system for LLMs, with:

• Tools (functions the model can call)
• Context (code files and metadata)
• Prompts (guided workflows)
