I see a clear difference between work, which is using the God-given nature and getting from it what we deserve and magic, which is an attempt to change reality to our advantage without deserving it, with consequences we can't possibly foresee, since we didn't create the world and have no idea how any of it works.
If everything is one then there is no such thing as theft or robbery. Murder is just suicide and rape is nothing but masturbation.

The ability to understand paradox and polarity in life is vital to finding the truth.
They call it the narrow path and the middle way for a reason.
On a small scale we are individuals.
I think humility and ethics are vital to finding the truth.
You may call it small scale, but this is the experience we are having here in this world.
We are individuals.
Magic is just yet another way the ego tries to be special and above others. The concept of God can help with that:
One Creator, the rest of us creatures.
All unique, none as special as the ego likes to pretend in order to gain privileges, undeserved advantages, special treatment and rules.
We've been given everything and been set free inside of a miracle nobody can explain, trying to game reality to get more is a lack of gratefulness and humility.
We got so much on our plate just trying to be humans instead of mere animals, and yet, the ego wants to pretend we are gods...

On a small scale we are individuals and "appear" separate.
That's one side of the coin (a half truth)
The other side is that there is one source/God from which THE ALL creates All.
We're all made of the same "energy" or "light".
Once you gain the awareness and develop the mind to sense the subtler aspects to reality, you realise there is no separate "my life" and "your life", there is just "LIFE", one life that is the same life in every living thing, it's simply the bodies or containers which make it all appear like separate lives.
Karma is still a thing.
If God is the source of all, then God must also create Magic, since God/THE ALL is Mind, The Universal is a mental creation of God's thinking as detailed in depth by both The Kybalion and Walter Russell's scientific works: "The Universal One" and "The Secret of Light."
People completely misunderstand nature.
I highly recommend reading The Kybalion.
Nature is far more than just the grass and animals..
It includes your every imagined thought and idea too.
We all have innate gifts and hidden abilities locked away within our dormant "junk" DNA.
I'm not forcing you to believe in magic if you're not ready for it, quite the contrary, it's something one must want to do to understand the higher aspects of life beyond what our "sense" can see.
It's not for everyone.
But to say it is not of God or Nature is simply not true.
By work what you actually mean is "action"
There are 3 planes of existence (roughly)
Physical, Mental, Spiritual.
You can perform "work" or "action" on each of these planes.
Again, the senses only show us what they can perceive, they should not be used to build a FULL picture of the universe, only within their bounds (material plane).
The funny thing is everyone uses magic everyday.

Well, maybe some day I get to your lofty level and suddenly "gain the awareness" that the new age ego-inflation that is taking over the world as we speak is really an advanced spiritual level that as of now I'm just to dense to appreciate, as you kindly imply.
Who knows.
For now, I see all the people self-identifying as prophets, magicians, gods, enlightened, awake and chosen ones and have a good chuckle.
All that magic, enlightenment, awakeness and god-nature and they still wipe their butts...
As for the books you recommend, I assure you I had my own phase of going through what I would call the luciferian aspects of spirituality.
The occult, theosophy, mystery schools, you name it.
I'm very grateful I got over it.
Each to their own, we're all on our own journey. We don't all learn the same lessons or experiences in life as others
As long as people are causing no harm, injury or loss and violating another's free will I see no issue and people can live and believe what they want.
I used to judge magic and avoid it too.
What I've learnt is the same old human condition that's existed since humans were a thing.
We often fear what we don't understand.
If we agreed we couldn't have a good discussion.
Personally, I'm fascinated by how the New Age movement moves people away from monotheism and towards first monism (all is one), then pantheism (all is god) and finally to an entirely luciferian form of polytheism (I'm a god).
I call it the New Age Three Step.
The last step is the most extreme form of ego-inflation imaginable.
