Secular ethics suffer from a problem that nobody has been able to resolve: Ethics rely on private property. If you don't own yourself, there is no right and wrong. Theft, rape and murder are wrong because they violate property rights. All rights are property rights. But self-ownership, and by extension private property in all forms, is a metaphysical claim.

Freedom itself is based on the metaphysical claim of self-ownership. And that's the reason why collectivists, who are atheist materialists, if they are consistent, have no problem whatsoever with coercion and the violation of (property) rights. They don't believe in private property. And why would they? Trying to make a collectivist believe in private property and individual rights is the exact same thing as trying to get an atheist to believe in God.
