The painstaking process of cyanotype printing! These are from my original drawings then transferred to acetate for UV exposure. An important note is the paper I use is a fine tissue made in Japan from Mulberry bark (KOZO). A strong yet almost see-through, The tissue doesn't take the solution well and leaks to any paper below while being wetted. These are the final prints indicating the descending spheres taking carbon to the sea floor. Why are the one-celled organisms important?

At the sea surface using photosynthesis and uprising nutrients Coccolithophores build calcite shells while collecting inorganic carbon. The transfer of this carbon is called our carbon pump. These handmade spheres with Lino prints of coccos sit above a 4 layer tissue wave. A delicate tissue indicating the fine balance of our food chain and climate, ocean acidity and our food chain.
