What's truly valuable to me is being able to look back on something and saying "I did that," and for it to be meaningful, even if it produced nothing but an experience worthy of my memory.

I'm not sure I'll ever find an answer... But I'll certainly try.

What makes the task meaningful? Is it the nature of the task? Is it that accomplishing the task is good for me in some way, or that it isn't bad for me, perhaps?

Or is it entirely subjective?

What makes it fulfilling, and why?

I'm not talking about "I ate that whole cake." That may be a difficult task, grueling in its own way, but it doesn't have meaning.

I mean, "I climbed that mountain," or "I built that house."

I'm still struggling with finding what the true distinction is.
