As for ownership - the people are not owned by their gov - they are in partnership with their gov.

That is not true. A partnership is a state of cooperation for mutual interest, and it thus implies equal footing. Governments are monopolistic on this planet, and that is why I don't think partnership is accurate. Not liberal BS either. We are property.
