It’s not so much the female spirit as it is estrogen - the hormone of proliferation, anxiety, sleeplessness and aggression, and serotonin - the hormone of agitation (especially in the bowel) and learned helplessness. Controversial takes, perhaps, but we are awash in a sea of xenoestrogens and actual estrogens - in both the food and the water and through chronic stress. We are all chronically estrogen dominant, and it doesn’t help that serotonin has been mischaracterized as the ‘happy hormone’, rather it makes people lose their agency, feel numbed out and helpless.
