that's why i have basically a bad feeling long-term about the ability of upvaluing to create good meta-information, i think it'll MOSTLY reflect who likes who & who has power & so forth, & the 1% or w/e of people actually responding to whether things are relevant or important outside of who said them will get absolutely lost in that noise

it's not only about liking the information, many also want to be close as possible to the source of infamy. I know this through my own experience in BitCoin - and my past behaviour.
