IMO the problem arises from the last few sentences of the whitepaper.
Devs can code whatever they want. It is ultimately the miners that chose to change bitcoin. Miners chose to fork BTC and bcash
so basically miners chose selfishly to mess with the protocol in anticipation of long term gains
It will be interesting to see what the BSV approach to 'set in stone' looks like in practice, because I agree, miners can try to do that. And while it pays to be honest, that doesn't stop people from being stupid.
