Me, at Big Sur in a Stratus 5. Another attraction at Big Sur are the baths at Eslan. We would rappel down the ice-plant covered cliff about 2 am to bathe in the geothermal spring. When we were done we would just walk out.
I didn't doubt you at all. People who know such things eventually find their way here.
Welcome to Twetch!
Wow! If that's true, I owe you years of life for saving me the time cleaning up those mouse balls all these years. Thanks!
dont be a cat lady, feral cats probably cause more damage to ecosystems than any other animal.
I've got 2 cats Lord Shiva and Kali the Destroyer. Got em from the pound when my previous cat died. I live in the country and it takes less than a week for the mice to move in. Named Kali when she destroyed the cardboard catainer they sold us. Shiva just..
I live in the country myself, I have seen and heard evidence that cats will puposely infest old buildings (like barns or farm houses) with mice. Yes its true that cats eat mice. They also farm their food supply, food for thought.
And tasty food it is!
I have never seen nor heard of cats doing that. Every farmer I know has a barn cat to control the mice population.
People seem to underestimate the (health) problems caused by mice.
Way more people die from illnesses transmitted by mice than by poisenous snakes, as far as I know.
Without cats and snakes we would be in a lot of trouble.
There is a barn cat, Harriet, here as well. She is my sister's cat and lives in the horse barn. All three cats hunt there during the day.
If you have evidence of cats breeding mice and infesting buildings with them, instead of decimating their populations, I'd love to see it. That would be fascinating...
My cats are quite the opposite.
They kill every mouse they see.
I vaguely recall reading that the black death was caused by a dearth of cats resulting in an abundance of rodents infested with fleas biting humans with poor outcomes for the bitee.
I don't have any fancy studies or evidence other than my anecdotal experience. cats used to go under my house at night through the foundation vents. I heard a cat drag a screaming mouse through a broken screen in the foundation. Fixed the screens no more🐭
