People that quote Alan Watts, I direct them to DT Suzuki just the same because people like Suzuki understood that while life is able to be lived in a state of floating 3 inches above the ground, you know the term, that does not ground one in reality. Look at the Taoists, predecessors to the Zen Buddhists, they had healthy senses of humor because they lived in an absolutely brutal time and the absurdity of certitude was their coping mechanism. Chuang Tzu makes a great apéritif and pallet cleanser. The Seven Taoist Masters offers a classic illustration of the aforementioned points about maintaining lightness in gravitas-laden times.
