Some did call early on that the easiest way to destroy bitcoin or at least destroy it's ability to affect the legacy system, is to simply absorb it, rather than fight it.
But... what if getting the world to accept crypto as feasible currency for day to day life required these actions, and once that happens and the banks are deeply invested everyone pulls out of BTC making it tank, in turn killing the banks...

Or... one of the best ways to tank the legacy system is control a large portion of it's assets...
