A real search for truth doesn't end with adopting an ideology.
We choose ideologies because we think they will profit us, not because they are true.
And we keep and defend retarded ideologies because we know that giving them up would put us at a disadvantage.
This disadvantage isn't primarily monetary in nature, but social.
If all your friends and acquaintances share your ideology, questioning it means being alone, starting new.
If not being kicked out of the herd depends on sharing the ideology of the herd, a herd animal will pretend to be blind and deaf to any fact that demolishes the ideology.
