It would be quite difficult to come up with something more demoralizing than random attacks on people perpetrated by a group brought into your country and protected by your own supposed representatives who then, to add insult to injury, target those who dare to say the obvious.

And using such attacks to further disarm the native population, instead of allowing them the means to protect themselves, is the icing on the cake.
