proper moderation goes beyond is this good/bad in some general vague sense to specifically, is this good in the sense of advancing THIS conversation, the Mona Lisa is of course in many senses "good content" but if we've decided to have a conversation about how to make a proper bearnaise & you've gone off on a tangent about your trip to Paris & people are upvoting the Mona Lisa b/c it's "good" & they like it, then in context the conversation needs putting back on track

do you think people will still upvalue the mona lisa in this case? i feel like upvaluing for appropriate context is kind of built in. its what people do naturally
did you just say that people naturally upvote contextually relevant information & not things they just personally generally like & agree with??? LET ME ON THE INTERNET YOU'RE USING RIGHT NOW!! I NEED IT!! XD XD XD
i think it could be helpful to give multiple ways to upvote to uh split off the different things it means, it's too vague, like i think if you had a general purpose "i like this" button AS WELL AS the "this is relevant to this conversation" button, people could get it out of their system to express that something is cool but then also vote no on is it relevant to THIS tho
