The thing is... that upgrade was actually a restoration.

Any majority becomes a centralized entity so there will always be an element of centralization. The more important aspect is the network and code. One could argue that a little bit of centralization could protect the original protocol for now.
The network is fairly and will become moreso centralized over time as well though, as barrier to entry rises to be able to successfully mine blocks. If there is real competition among miners, it should be fine. Monopolization is difficult w/out fiat scam
