I have no problem blaming myself or my age for the difficulties I'm having with the treechat UI, but I don't think I was ever as confused about how to use an app or website as I am with treechat. I can't even say how to make it better, but maybe asking someone who has experience with such things could give some valuable feedback. The only think I can offer as feedback is that there seems to be no way to make paragraphs. Whenever I press enter to make a paragraph I post by accident.

on desktop you can make a paragraph by hitting shift enter
but treechat is meant to write threads of shorter messages... you can think of each message as analogous to a paragraph, or a point, or idea atom. the aim is to be able to branch off of each of the messages if desired, to annotate or expand on each thought
it is not optimized for writing long posts, but a series of short posts if that makes sense
also... from my perspective you are using the app and partaking in conversations, including in branches, so i understand you feel confused, but it is not coming across in your interactions with me, for what its worth

The most confusing part for me is the interface itself. I seem to be randomly clicking things and never get where I want to go. I still don't know how to follow people.

It's the same concept, and UI on mobile, it's just that you are seeing one panel at a time there! so you can swipe between them, and if you ever lose your place just use the stream control in the bottom navigation panel to re-orient... or just swipe back to where you were
here is a little more on navigating thread trees, as opposed to flat threads
also keep in mind, that if you go to the private stream, and start creating threads there, you can take private notes, or keep a diary, collect research, etc
also, happy to hop on a zoom call pretty much anytime (including now) if you'd like a real-time walkthrough and to answer any questions. you should never feel like you are bothering me with your questions, its my job to explain it to you, and you asking me is actually super useful bc it alerts me to where the friction is in the tool, so thank you for that
